*ASH WEDNESDAY AND LENT SEASON. The liturgical season of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, March 5. Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of fast and abstinence. Lenten Fridays are days of abstinence. Fasting binds all persons from 18 to 59 years old, unless prevented by poor health. On days of fast, one full meal is allowed. Two other smaller meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken according to one's own needs. Eating between meals is not allowed although fluids may be taken. Abstinence from meat binds all persons who are 14 and older, unless prevented by poor health. Lent is a penitential season and, as such, religious practices such as daily Mass, the celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation, the Stations of the Cross, works of charity and justice, and acts of self-denial are highly encouraged. Blessing of ashes will be held on Ash Wednesday at the beginning and on Sunday at the end of the Mass. Way of the Cross will take place on Friday and Sunday, half an hour before Mass.

*FIRST FRIDAY. First Friday of the month is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and sacramental confession. Half an hour before the Mass we will have the Way of the Cross and a chance for confession in our church.

*CATECHISM CLASSES FOR CONFIRMANDS AND CANDIDATES FOR THE FIRST COMMUNION. Catechism classes go as ususal. Confirmands will have their class this Friday, March 7 at 7:30 p.m. Candidates for the First Communion will have their class next week, on Friday, March 14 at 7:30 p.m. Attending Sunday mass is implied for all.

*ENVELOPES, CALENDARS AND TAX RECEIPTS. If somebody didn't pick up his new donation envelopes, calendars or tax receipt, he can do so at the stand by the entrance door.

*PARISH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING. Will be held on Sunday, March 16 after Mass in our church  hall. We are looking for new volunteers to fill up our parish councils. If you are able and willing, there is a chance to become more active in our parish activities. All parishioners are invited to come for the meeting.

*** JADRAN

*MEMBERSHIP LIST RENEWAL. Renewal of Jadran Membership List is commencing, we will be renewing our membership list for the 2025 season so you can opt-out of receiving communications throughout the year. I try to limit the communications to as few as possible but I don’t want to be sending emails to people who do not want to receive them.  If you would like to be a part of the Jadran Membership List, please email brian.rogic@akkodisgroup.com to simply add your email to receive weekly emails detailing events and games for the club.

*SPONSORSHIP AND PREPARATION FOR 2025 SEASON. As we prepare for the 2025 season, there is a lot of work to do and that cannot happen without Sponsorship support. Please spread the word that we will be looking for more sponsors in 2025 as we look to have a very successful season across all of our teams.

Alternatively, if you know of people/players/volunteers that are interested in getting involved, please spread the word as we are always looking for strong soccer players to join our club and help us put the best possible product on the field for all of our teams. We are looking for good people that have the right attitude and fit in well socially with our teams. Spread the word as we want to be a place that people feel welcome and want to help the club succeed.

*TRY-OUTS FOR MEN'S PREMIER TEAM AND COMPETITIVE TEAM PROGRAM. Try-outs for the Men’s Premier team will be on March 8th from 1:30PM-2:30PM. For the MC3/MC4 Team the try-out is March 11th from 8:00PM-9:30PM.  If you are interested please sign up at the following link https://ottawajadran.ca/pages/2025-mens-prem-tryouts. Cost of the try-out is $20. For more information contact Brian Rogic (613-276-4886).

*MARCH EVENTS – UEFA NATIONS LEAGUE VIEWING PARTIES. Jadran will be hosting the viewing of both games of the Nations League on March 20th at 3:45PM and March 23rd at 3:45PM in the church hall. Entrance cost will be $10 and food and beverages will be available to purchase. More details to follow next week. Please join us and help us in our fundraising efforts for the 2025 season. This season will be very costly as the costs of running a premier team are high so we look forward to having excellent community support at club fundraising events.
